Why choose Tanzania for a honeymoon safari?

No Tanzanian honeymoon safari would be complete without a visit to the Serengeti. With luxurious Wilderness Usawa moving seasonally in step with the Great Wildebeest Migration, we place you close to the action, while remaining far from crowded tourist areas, creating a private honeymoon experience.

Look forward to sparkling wine at golden hour on these legendary plains, hot-air balloon flights at sunrise, and leisurely full-day safaris with picnic lunches. The camp’s setting also allows for guided walking safaris directly from your tent. Remote yet thoughtfully appointed, with mesh-sided tents that bring the outside in, your Tanzanian honeymoon combines comfort, privacy, and elegance.

A honeymoon safari in the Serengeti is easily combined with Zanzibar, or other iconic wild areas in Tanzania, as well as Kenya’s Masai Mara. This is a couple’s safari defined by unforgettable shared experiences.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time for a honeymoon safari in Tanzania?

One of the most popular times to visit Tanzania is during the dry season (June–October), especially if you would like to see the Great Migration in the Serengeti. The period January through March is also an excellent time to visit, when calving season brings an abundance of baby antelopes, predators and migratory birds.

How private are the camps?

Our Wilderness Usawa Serengeti camps are low-density and set up on a seasonal basis to follow the migration but avoid crowded hot spots. With just six tents per location in remote settings, privacy is at the heart of your safari.

How do I customise a honeymoon itinerary?

Every itinerary with Wilderness is fully bespoke, with your Travel Designer working directly with you to combine safari regions and arrange transfers, partner lodges, and experiences that match your interests. Your honeymoon can include properties across Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, and even Zanzibar, with all details planned for a seamless, end-to-end East African trip.
