Serengeti
Few places capture the essence of the African safari quite like Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. Famous for the Great Migration and its remarkable concentration of wildlife, it offers one of the most memorable game viewing experiences in Africa.

One of Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacles
Serengeti National Park is one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations, known for the Great Migration and the herds of wildebeest and zebra that move across the plains in search of fresh grazing. The Serengeti’s enormous size and varied habitats, from open grasslands to river systems and rocky kopjes, also provide a home to large prides of lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants and buffalo.

The Great Migration
The location of Wilderness Usawa Serengeti shifts seasonally to follow the wildebeest migration and weather patterns through the year to deliver the best possible wildlife experience. This means that no matter when you choose to visit, you are set away from the crowds but within the optimal setting to see the wildlife of the Serengeti.

Seasonal sites
Wilderness Usawa Serengeti’s location shifts with the season and the migration. The camp is set in the fertile Southern Plains to welcome you during calving season, in Grumeti as the herds move north, and later south. Lamai and the Northern Hills see the migration filter through on their way back south from the busier Mara River-crossing area.

Safari experience
Game drives in Serengeti National Park take place in open 4x4 vehicles, usually in the early morning and afternoon, with full-day excursions popular when the migration is further from camp. Usawa also allows for seasonal guided nature walks that begin right from camp (in designated walking zones). You may also decide to take to the skies in a hot-air balloon for an aerial safari.

Why Wilderness
In the Serengeti, Wilderness offers access to remote, exclusive wild areas to offer you a more personalised experience. With industry-leading guides, an immersive camp design, and a hospitality model that supports positive conservation impact, the result is a Serengeti safari that is thoughtful, informed, and set away from the crowds.
