Linyanti, Mababe, Okavango Delta
This itinerary is designed for those who want to experience Botswana fully, rather than rushing between highlights. Each of the four camps included here reveals a different side of the country and its wildlife experiences. The scenic flight between Mokete and Qorokwe is a highlight for me, giving you a sense of just how vast and varied this landscape really is, while ending at Mombo, with time at the Sanctuary, is the perfect conclusion to this itinerary.

Day 1
Kasane Airport
Kasane Airport to Wilderness King's Pool
Flight • 00:40h
On arrival at Kasane Airport and after clearing customs and immigration, you will be met and assisted by a Wilderness representative to your light aircraft for your onward circuit air transfer to Wilderness King's Pool.

Wilderness King's Pool consistently delivers the best dry season game viewing in far northern Botswana. Situated on the border with Namibia’s Caprivi Strip, Wilderness King's Pool is in an area vital to the seasonal movements of elephant herds and to the survival of rare roan and sable antelope. Looking down over the Linyanti River and up from the safety of sunken hides gives guests unexpected angles from which to witness great wildlife moments. Seven well-appointed twins and one family room, all made of canvas, wood and, thatch, soak up the views of the lagoon. The main area, deck, and bar offer uninterrupted views with closer proximity to the water, while parts of the roof extend down to ensure privacy. Insider’s Tip: Special highlights include sundowners on the Queen Silvia barge and time out at the unique underground hide!

Safaris in the Linyanti unfold in a wild, unfenced landscape, famed for its elephant herds and predators. Morning and afternoon game drives traverse mopane forests, open floodplains, and riverine corridors where lions, wild dogs, and leopards are often seen. As a private concession, the Linyanti also allows for night drives, offering the chance to spot lesser-seen nocturnal species. Guided walks bring a more intimate perspective, while seasonal boating and catch-and-release fishing add variety to your safari.

You will take a helicopter flight transfer from Wilderness King's Pool to Wilderness Mokete.

In our search for the most raw, remote, and untamed places on the planet, we discovered somewhere so wild, so abundant with life, it left us breathless, and a little bit emotional. Be one of the first to venture to this camp in a completely untouched area, where Wilderness is pioneering a safari experience unlike any you’ve seen before. The name Mokete means celebration or feast. It’s a place to feast on the unexplored and celebrate the untamed. Here the action never ends. This is a place to be awed by the majesty of Africa with an unrivalled diversity of wildlife. To place you in the heart of the drama, we’ve forgone walls and added cantilevered canvas roofs that slide away, revealing never-ending stars. Accommodating just 18 guests in nine tents, pioneering Mokete provides one of the most promising possibilities of intimate encounters all year. Whether sharing a drink with elephants in the middle of the day, or hearing hyena calls in the dead of night, it’s a feast for the senses. Insider's Tip: Be sure to spend some time at the sunken hide, eye-level with the colossal feet of breeding herds of elephants.

The name Qorokwe means 'the place where the buffalo broke through the bush into the water' and is evocative of the high-density game area in which the camp is situated. The diverse habitats of the south-eastern Okavango support a wealth of wildlife, earning the area’s well-deserved reputation as a top Botswana safari destination. Wilderness Qorokwe has nine tented suites, one of which is a spacious family unit with a private plunge pool. En-suite facilities feature an indoor shower with an inward opening door giving the illusion of an outdoor shower experience. Built on elevated wooden platforms, the main area includes a dining room, lounge, library, bar and an infinity pool overlooking the grassy plains. Highlights of Qorokwe’s dining experiences include festive boma evenings and scrumptious pizzas from the camp’s bespoke oven. Insider's Tip: Qorokwe is a great year-round land-and-water safari destination, consistently alive with abundant wildlife.

All Wilderness camps in the Okavango Delta offer twice daily game drives. Set out at first light, when predators are still active, in open 4x4 vehicles across plains, grasslands, and mopane woodland in search of wildlife. Skilled guides and trackers look for fresh paw prints, listen to alarm calls search for encounters with elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs, and the many antelope species that thrive here. After a mid-morning coffee stop in the bush, drives usually return to camp for a leisurely breakfast or brunch. Afternoons bring another game drive, often timed with the cooler hours of the day, when animals emerge to graze and hunt. With only a handful of vehicles allowed in vast private concessions, sightings feel personal and unhurried, allowing plenty of time for photography or simply watching nature unfold.
Day 10
Wilderness Qorokwe to Wilderness Mombo
Flight • 00:30h
You will take a light aircraft transfer from Wilderness Qorokwe to Wilderness Mombo.

Wilderness Mombo, on Mombo Island just off the northern tip of Chief’s Island, is built under large shady trees and overlooks a wonderful floodplain teeming with wildlife. Accommodation comprises eight spacious suites raised off the ground, all built to maximise the vistas over the plains. Each tent is elegantly furnished, complete with en-suite bathroom, a dressing area, indoor and outdoor showers; as well as a bathtub that creates a sense of indulgence. The expanded deck includes a sala and plunge pool. A large living and dining area looks out over that same view, while Wilderness Mombo’s famous traditional dinners are hosted in the nearby boma. Wilderness Mombo shares a Safari Boutique, spa, gym and lap pool with Wilderness Little Mombo. Large concentrations of plains game often occur in front of camp, and you may see a variety of animals without even leaving the veranda. Insider’s Tip: Arguably the best big game viewing in all of Africa with a bountiful hunting ground for large prides of lions and leopards.
