At Mombo, twice-daily game drives showcase the most remarkable wildlife concentrations found in this part of the Okavango Delta. Setting out at first light, you’ll explore floodplains, grasslands, and groves of giant fig trees in open 4x4 vehicles, when predators are at their most active. The area is world-renowned for its density of leopards and encounters are frequent while lions are are also commonly seen with large resident prides. Wild dogs, cheetahs and spotted hyenas add to the predator list while elephants and buffalo gather in impressive numbers, and plains game from giraffe to zebra and acquatic red lechwe are also common sightings. A stop for coffee in a scenic spot breaks up the morning before returning to camp for a leisurely brunch and time at the spa, pool or enjoying a siesta. As the day cools, afternoon drives offer another chance to see wildlife emerge, often in golden light that makes for superb photographic opportunities. With very few vehicles traversing vast private wilderness, sightings at Mombo feel unhurried and deeply personal.
