On arrival at Maun Airport and after clearing customs and immigration, you will be met and assisted by a Wilderness representative to your light aircraft for your onward transfer to Wilderness Mombo.








Wilderness Mombo, on Mombo Island just off the northern tip of Chief’s Island, is built under large shady trees and overlooks a wonderful floodplain teeming with wildlife. Accommodation comprises eight spacious suites raised off the ground, all built to maximise the vistas over the plains. Each tent is elegantly furnished, complete with en-suite bathroom, a dressing area, indoor and outdoor showers; as well as a bathtub that creates a sense of indulgence. The expanded deck includes a sala and plunge pool. A large living and dining area looks out over that same view, while Wilderness Mombo’s famous traditional dinners are hosted in the nearby boma. Wilderness Mombo shares a Safari Boutique, spa, gym and lap pool with Wilderness Little Mombo. Large concentrations of plains game often occur in front of camp, and you may see a variety of animals without even leaving the veranda. Insider’s Tip: Arguably the best big game viewing in all of Africa with a bountiful hunting ground for large prides of lions and leopards.

At Mombo, twice-daily game drives showcase the most remarkable wildlife concentrations found in this part of the Okavango Delta. Setting out at first light, you’ll explore floodplains, grasslands, and groves of giant fig trees in open 4x4 vehicles, when predators are at their most active. The area is world-renowned for its density of leopards and encounters are frequent while lions are are also commonly seen with large resident prides. Wild dogs, cheetahs and spotted hyenas add to the predator list while elephants and buffalo gather in impressive numbers, and plains game from giraffe to zebra and acquatic red lechwe are also common sightings. A stop for coffee in a scenic spot breaks up the morning before returning to camp for a leisurely brunch and time at the spa, pool or enjoying a siesta. As the day cools, afternoon drives offer another chance to see wildlife emerge, often in golden light that makes for superb photographic opportunities. With very few vehicles traversing vast private wilderness, sightings at Mombo feel unhurried and deeply personal.

Wilderness DumaTau’s extensive lagoon frontage ensures that each ultra-spacious 142 m2 guest suite has uninterrupted views over Osprey Lagoon, and the movements of the mega-herds of elephants the Linyanti is so famous for. All seven twin tented suites and one family unit have a private plunge pool and an inviting lounge, and feature a spacious bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers. The main dining and lounge areas boast unimpeded wide-angle vistas overlooking the wildlife-rich lagoon, while the centrally located Osprey Retreat wellness centre and gym – shared with Wilderness Little DumaTau – includes an inviting shaded deck, a lap pool, spa, a drinks and snack counter, and Safari Boutique. Safaris in the Linyanti unfold in a wild, unfenced landscape, famed for its elephant herds and predators. Morning and afternoon game drives traverse mopane forests, open floodplains, and riverine corridors where lions, wild dogs, and leopards are often seen. As a private concession, the Linyanti also allows for night drives, offering the chance to spot lesser-seen nocturnal species. Guided walks bring a more intimate perspective, while seasonal boating and catch-and-release fishing add variety to your safari.

Wilderness Little Kulala is the closest luxury desert retreat to the famous, seen-from-space Sossusvlei dunes. Guests enjoy exclusive private concession access and the camp’s location makes early morning dune visits (to see Sossusvlei at its best) very easy. Eleven luxury desert suites expanded to offer improved airflow, each have a private plunge pool, private rooftop area for sundowners, "African tapas" and other rooftop dinners or stargazing. A signature sleep-out experience on the bottom deck of each accommodation allows for easy access during the night while there are also indoor and outdoor showers. The name “Skeleton Coast” conjures up romantic images of desolate beauty, and the proudly remote Wilderness Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp in the Kaokoveld does not disappoint. The dry bed of the Hoanib River supports a thin green ribbon of vegetation and the wild beaches of the Atlantic coast are within reach, with their noisy seal colonies and eerily quiet shipwreck remnants. Eight large en-suite tents (including one family unit) and the main area provide shady viewpoints, while nature drives into the surrounding area reveal a wealth of desert-adapted wildlife. Desert-adapted lion and brown hyena may also be glimpsed in this vast but far from lifeless landscape. Insider's Tip: On a stay of three nights or more, a coastal excursion to The Skeleton Coast is included. Usually involving a drive down to the coast and a flight back to camp, to see such a diverse area both on the ground and in the air.

Located at the confluence of two tributaries in a broad valley of the Kaokoveld Desert, Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp offers an unforgettable gateway from which to experience both the thrillingly desolate Skeleton Coast and the private Palmwag Concession, alive with desert-adapted wildlife. One of the highlights here is a unique day trip excursion which sees you drive to the Skeleton Coast, stopping at oases and seeing wildlife along the way. You’ll get to explore the coastline, see seals and discover a shipwreck, before having lunch and then being flown back to camp so you can see the route you came from the sky. Unravel the mysterious history of the original ancient Strandloper people and the enigmatic stone circles they left behind and encounter the welwitschia on a nature walk – one of the oldest and strangest plants on the planet.
