Our African safari destinations
From Southern Africa’s desert and wetlands, its vast plains and classic savannah, to East Africa’s Albertine Rift rainforest and legendary landscapes, Wilderness offers access to Africa’s most extraordinary ecosystems. Each reveals a different side to this great continent, proof that Africa isn’t a once-in-a-lifetime trip, but a place that draws you back, offering something remarkable every time.

Botswana
The heart of our conservation hospitality story begins here with our first mobile operation. Today you will find some of our most awarded camps in Botswana’s most pristine wild areas, which provide sanctuary to 618 bird and 147 mammal species. The country's noteworthy biodiversity includes rarities, alongside healthy populations of predators, and one of the largest elephant populations on Earth.
Botswana
Namibia
From the world's oldest desert with its towering red dunes, dramatic moonlike terrain, a haunting coastline and rich local cultures, Namibia provides a unique adventure amidst some of the world's most photogenic landscapes. It’s also home to Africa's last free-ranging population of black rhino, alongside remarkable desert-adapted predators and large mammals.
Namibia
Rwanda
Despite its compact size, Rwanda has extraordinary biodiversity across landscapes ranging from Afro-montane rainforest to savannah. It offers experiences with elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, and white and black rhinos, as well as opportunities to encounter golden monkeys and other primates. The most sought-after activity is a trek to see mountain gorillas.
Rwanda
Kenya
Kenya epitomises the classic African safari, where wildlife moves freely between protected areas. Here, the legendary Masai Mara, Africa's original safari destination hosts the northern section of the Great Migration. Here, in the more secluded Mara Triangle, Wilderness Mara is set on a marsh frequented by elephant, rhino and various birds, while local Maasai homestead visits are also on offer.
Kenya
Tanzania
Tanzania is home to some of Africa's most celebrated wildlife destinations with about 20% of Africa's large mammal population found here. Serengeti National Park showcases the Great Migration and Wilderness Usawa moves seasonally to place you where the wildlife is, but without the crowds. Explore on game drives, go walking in the Serengeti, or see the herds from above in a hot air balloon.
Tanzania
Zambia
Zambia is home to dramatic landscapes encompassing the Luangwa Valley, Victoria Falls, Lake Tanganyika and Kafue National Park. Together these make up some of Africa's most remote wild experiences, serving as an important refuge for vulnerable species. From the thundering Victoria Falls to the remote wetlands of Kafue, Zambia delivers beyond expectation.
Zambia
Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe safeguards remarkable biodiversity, including 672 bird species and 196 mammal species across varied landscapes. It offers year-round, value-for-money classic safari experiences. You will find our camps in Hwange , where over 45,000 elephants roam and productive pans attract massive herds, as well Mana Pools where the Zambezi River meanders through, drawing prolific wildlife.

A typical safari day
Morning activity
Whether tracking rhino, trekking for gorilla or going on a game drive, your days on a safari holiday start early, waking up before dawn for your morning activity.

Brunch
After a few hours on a game drive or walking safari, you’ll return to camp or a surprise location for a hearty brunch, followed by siesta time, and the opportunity to relax. That is unless you're trekking through the Rwanda rainforest, tracking rhinos in the Namibia desert or embarking on an extended game drive in Mababe where time is dictated by the wildlife you find.

Siesta
Take a dip in the pool, book a spa treatment, or unwind with a book at the hide as you wait to see who’ll come for a visit.

Wildlife activity
Another safari activity awaits as the air cools. Depending on the destination, this could be a drive, or a boat safari or a serene mokoro excursion revealing the smaller wonders of the wild.

Sundowners
Toast the setting sun in a breathtaking location as you mark the transition to evening.

Night drive
On private concessions, once the sun has set it is time to make your way back to camp as the nocturnal animals emerge, allowing for a short evening drive along the way.

After the sun goes down
Toast another memorable day on safari alongside newfound friends with a fireside dinner in the boma or celebrate your romance with a meal under the stars.
