April tiptoed in softly at Sabyinyo

But don’t let the calm fool you. Behind the scenes, it was all systems go! We used the quieter guest flow to fine tune, freshen up, and make some bold updates that have the lodge looking and feeling its absolute best. With sweeping views newly revealed and exciting new touches added, we're more than ready to swing into high season with style, soul, and a dash of sparkle.

Guest news

April brought smaller groups and cosy couples seeking once-in-a-lifetime encounters with mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. The weather? Let’s just say the rainforest received a generous soaking – but our adventurous guests didn’t mind one bit. They embraced the misty magic of Volcanoes National Park with muddy boots and wide eyes, returning with stories (and selfies) to last a lifetime.

Thanks to the thoughtful harvesting of eucalyptus trees on our property, our lodge now boasts panoramic views of all six volcanoes – yes, six! Whether sipping coffee at sunrise or wine at sunset, the views are simply unbeatable.

We also spiced things up at the table. Our brand-new rotating lunch menus, inspired by local flavours and seasonal ingredients, are proving to be a hit! Each dish tells a story – from our farms and others nearby, to the traditions of our Rwandan roots. It's food with heart, and our guests are loving every bite.

Staff news

While things were quieter on the guest front, our team was buzzing with energy. April became a month of purpose, passion, and a whole lot of elbow grease. Staff jumped into key back-of-house projects – from revamping the kitchen layout to planting indigenous trees to replace the harvested eucalyptus. It's all part of our ongoing mission to blend sustainability with style.

But April wasn’t all hard hats and shovels. We also laced up our boots for a friendly but fiery football match against our friends at Wilderness Bisate! The final score? A tight 2–3 in favor of Bisate. The real win, though, was the camaraderie. Laughter echoed, legs burned, and by the end of the game, both teams walked off the field more connected than ever. It was the kind of healthy rivalry that reminds us we’re stronger together – on and off the pitch.

April was also a month of deep reflection. Our team joined the nation in observing the 31st Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi. We stood together in remembrance, honouring the lives lost and embracing the spirit of unity and resilience that defines Rwanda today. It was a powerful reminder of why community matters – both in memory and in our shared future.
