Wilderness Sabyinyo newsletter – August 2025

August was nothing short of buzzing with activity! Guests arrived from across the globe, and our lodge was a hub of adventure and celebration. Trekking through the misty park trails was a favourite, a little muddier than usual, but far more atmospheric in the cool mountain air. 

Beyond the hikes, many guests embraced community visits, meeting residents, and experiencing their culture first-hand, connecting with Rwanda’s heart and soul. For those who preferred a slower pace, guided nature walks around the property offered quiet discoveries of birdsong, fresh breezes, and a surprise or two…

… when our cheeky golden monkey neighbours made a grand return this month! After being scarce for a while, they reappeared in high spirits, turning strolls through the property into lively encounters. Their playful presence reminded us that here, nature always finds a way to join the party.

Evenings were equally enchanting: glowing sunsets over the volcanoes, cocktails and soft drinks in hand, and lively staff performances that kept the atmosphere joyous. Some guests celebrated special milestones during their stay from anniversaries to once-in-a-lifetime adventures making August a month filled with stories worth retelling.

Our garden is thriving as never before, thanks to August’s rain-meets-sun weather recipe. Crisp vegetables and fragrant herbs made their way straight into our kitchen every day, transforming meals into farm-to-table delights that guests thoroughly enjoyed.

But the garden isn’t just about what ends up on the plate – it’s a feast for all the senses. Walking through its paths this month felt like stepping into a living canvas: bright greens, earthy aromas, and the satisfying hum of a space in full bloom. It’s proof that with a little care (and the right dose of rain and sun), nature gives back generously.

Behind the scenes, August was a month of growth for our team. We began with refresher training on fire safety and the correct use of extinguishers, ensuring that our lodge is not only welcoming, but also well-protected.

And that’s not all: we were delighted to welcome new members into the Sabyinyo family. Their energy, passion, and dedication bring fresh perspectives to the team, and we’re excited to see the wonderful contributions they’ll make.

As always, our staff’s mission is simple but powerful: to make every guest’s stay unforgettable with a touch of warmth that is hard to find elsewhere.

With September on the horizon, we’re excited for even more adventures, new friendships, and lush moments on the property. Whether rain, sun, or a little bit of both, Sabyinyo is ready to welcome it all, and most importantly, welcome you.
