Mother Nature’s tribute...

To the month of love at Sabyinyo

February arrived at Wilderness Sabyinyo bringing a busy and unpredictable month. There were more guests, and there was more activity – despite much more rain, particularly in the evenings. And though the showers had us reaching for our umbrellas, they gifted us some truly magical scenes.

There were mornings when the volcanoes stood tall through delicate veils of mist, and evenings where the clouds were touched with soft blush pinks and golds. Nature was celebrating right alongside us during this month dedicated to love, appreciation, and connection.

Guest activities

From heartfelt fireside chats to spontaneous storytelling sessions over breakfast, guests easily bonded with the staff, reminding us why hospitality is such a joyful craft.

Afternoons, particularly, settled into a cosy routine: guests gathered in the lounge or on the terrace, wrapped in soft blankets and with a glass of wine in hand, watching the mist drift between the volcanoes. These slow, warm endings to February’s busy days became a highlight for many of us.

Gorilla trekking in February

The trekking experiences this month brought their own energy. With the rains transforming the forest trails into soft, muddy slides, guests embraced every step with humor and enthusiasm. Whether navigating slippery slopes or pausing to take in the forest’s earthy fragrance, the adventure had everyone laughing, and leaning into the full beauty of the experience.

Encounters with the gorillas are always profound – quietly observant silverbacks, playful juveniles, and youngsters feeding and lounging around their natural habitat, leaving everyone with hearts full of awe and memories for a lifetime.

Staff news

Our team embraced the spirit of February with genuine joy. Valentine’s Day at Wilderness Sabyinyo is more than a Hallmark occasion. It’s a chance to celebrate the many forms of love that bind us: love for our work, love for the land, love for our guests, and love for each other as a family.

We celebrated with flowers, small treats, shared meals, and heartfelt moments of appreciation. Laughter echoed, and the energy of the day lingered long after the last rose-colored decoration came down.

As the celebrations quieted, our focus shifted to preparation. With low season on the horizon, our team is gearing up for a period of renewal. Maintenance plans are in motion, from tending to garden pathways softened by the rains to refreshing guest areas and fine tuning the details that make Sabyinyo feel like home. This is our time to restore, reset, and ready ourselves for the busier months later in the year.
