Discover the wild together

Couples’ safaris

A couple’s safari goes beyond grand gestures. It’s about having the time and space to connect with each another. With Wilderness, a safari together is all about shared discovery.

Time together, wildly well spent

For couples who love to travel, a safari is an invitation to slow down. Private plunge pools, flexible days, and small, intimate camps allow for quiet spaces between game drives, dinners for two, a massage or sauna together, nature walks, or quad biking to get the heart racing. It’s about more than just wildlife or beautiful landscapes, it’s about truly being present with the one you love.

Why go on safari as a couple

A safari together is an opportunity to reset and remember why you travel together in the first place. Our luxury safari lodges curate moments just for couples, from a private bush dinner under the stars to a secluded breakfast at a waterhole. Beyond wildlife, the rhythm of a safari – with its relaxed brunches, rich conversations beside the fire, and slow sundowners – allows for true connection.

From Star Beds and private plunge pools, to wine cellars and wellness facilities, our camps are designed to allow you the space to enjoy the wild together. With limited guest numbers and the option of private vehicles and guides, every day can be yours alone, shaped around both discovery and quiet connection.

Beyond your safari

‘My husband and I spent 12 days in Africa for our honeymoon and every day was better than the last. The food was some of the best we've ever had. The guides were great and made us feel safe the entire time’.

Signature safari experiences for couples

Our couple’s safari moments will stay with you long after you return home. A private drive may lead to a surprise picnic, a wellness ritual could unfold between activities, and a conservation moment can quietly reshape how you see the places you’ll grow to love. The result is a honeymoon or safari defined less by what you do, and more by how it brings you closer to your partner.

Where to go together

Our safari camps are located across Southern and East Africa, offering you a wide choice of destinations. Each location has been selected for its remote seclusion, stunning scenery and unique wildlife, allowing you to experience the continent through places that prioritise privacy, experiences and a deep sense of place.

Botswana

In Botswana’s Okavango Delta, a World Heritage Site wetland of channels and islands, combine waterborne mokoro excursions with classic game drives, staying in remote camps that feel entirely your own, while enjoying abundant wildlife year-round. Beyond the Delta, the Linyanti and Mababe bring a sense of vast, unshared wilderness where encounters with elephants and lions are frequent highlights.

Namibia

Namibia is ideal for couples seeking space and a quieter safari. Desert landscapes, sculpted dunes and stark mountain ranges slow the pace. Game viewing is deliberate rather than dense, with desert-adapted wildlife, nature walks, and long drives through vast terrain. With remote camps, unique cultures, minimal light pollution and dramatic night skies, Namibia offers privacy and solitude.

Rwanda

Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park is home to two of our award-winning, architecturally stunning lodges in gorilla-trekking territory, where you can experience a different kind of wild. Pair this with a secluded stay in Akagera National Park, for lakeside luxury, combined with classic safari savannah, that offers an unexpected experience.

Zimbabwe & Zambia

In Zimbabwe’s Hwange and Mana Pools, open plains and riverine forests offer dramatic contrasts and opportunities for walking safaris and thrilling canoe trips together. Pair these parks with Zambia’s Kafue for a classic safari that offers a traditional, explorer feel, or with a stay near Victoria Falls for exciting adventure activities and a helicopter flight over this World Wonder.

Planning your couple’s safari

Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, a milestone anniversary, or just a long-anticipated journey, every safari calls for a different approach. Using years of experience, our expert Travel Designers will work with you to shape a safari that feels meaningful rather than generic, aligning destination, camp style and duration with your wants and needs.

When to go

When to go

The right season can define the experience. Shoulder and summer months are often ideal for couples, offering fewer guests and light that lingers longer at the edges of the day . Wildlife remains active, but camps feel calmer. For those celebrating a significant event, travelling outside peak periods often brings an added sense of exclusivity and ease, and a chance for more moments of surprise.

Don’t just take our word for it

Little Kulala was the first stop on our honeymoon and it was our favourite part. Rooms are extremely modern whilst preserving a traditional touch. The food was exceptional. The team couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a great stay, with extremely personalised service – nothing was ever too much, but equally discreet rather than over the top.
