Festive year-end cheer

December always brings an extra sense of jolliness to Wilderness Sabyinyo. Probably a combination of the festive season and because the year is ending, the month always holds a special place in our hearts.  We almost still can’t wrap our minds around the fact that we are ending another yet extraordinary year – last January feels like yesterday, with the new year’s goals set out… the very same goals that we’ve achieved, and gone beyond. This has been a truly outstanding year for Sabyinyo, with lots of changes to our camp and even more growth. We truly wouldn’t change a thing if we got to relive this year again.

Sabyinyo guest news

As we started this month, we were particularly excited to welcome a group of guests who were the first to see and experience Sabyinyo after our refurb. The refreshed lodge has left most guests speechless, and they described it as cosier and more beautiful. This felt rewarding after the tremendous effort that the team and our interior designer had put in.

December was a busy month for Sabyinyo, as many people travel for the holidays, and our guests ranged from families to honeymooners and solo travellers, all of whom truly made the month a little bit more festive than it already was.

Our guests enjoyed our true Sabyinyo Christmas specials, from the wonderful Christmas decorations to the new menus and special cocktails and gifts that left everyone feeling jolly and merry – and as amazing as this sounds, it wouldn’t have been as much fun as it was without our guests, who made it a one-of-a-kind event, where one could hear from miles away our laughter and the Christmas carols that we sang together. Trust us, this is what we’d describe as the best Christmas present we could have received!

Sabyinyo staff news

We don’t know about you, but as soon as December hits our calendars, we start noticing the difference in our staff – from whistling Christmas carols, to our iconic red Christmas hats, we always get super excited about December because we get to spread Christmas joy among our guests. Everyone gets involved in hanging Christmas décor and so much more around the lodge to enhance our guests’ experience.

As we conclude the year, our staff members took this month as a time to reflect on the events of 2023, the wins – big and small – the setbacks (that we still emerged positively from), and everything else in between. It was a remarkable year for the team’s growth, career-wise and personally, and has left everyone excited for what the new year will bring. They are all already planning and setting out everything they want to achieve in 2024.

What a lovely place, full of warmth and love. The staff and community make you feel part of their family. See you soon.
