International Mother Earth Day is celebrated to remind each of us that the Earth and its ecosystems provide us with life and all the things we need to survive.
It also recognises that communities need to work together to protect and look after the Earth. The idea behind Earth Day is to promote harmony with nature and the Earth to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations.
The theme for 2020 is “Climate Change”.
Climate change represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and the life-support systems that make our world habitable – and in response, Earth Day 2020 is dedicated to providing the information and inspiration needed to fundamentally change human attitude and behaviour about climate change.
Our Zambezi Children in The Wilderness Team has put together a few fun games and activities for you to enjoy with your children in the safety of your homes.
For those of you who are maintaining a home-school environment, we have also included an easy to follow lesson plan to help children grasp the concept of climate change and understand how they can help.
