We have hand-picked three of our safari destinations that will satisfy your love for water activities as well as wildlife adventures on land. In Botswana, you have the luxury of choice between three exceptional camps where your stay promises to be jam-packed with adventure – whether you prefer to spend time with the elephants on the water or watch predators stalk their prey on a game drive.

Jao Camp - Jao Private Reserve

At Jao, you will be treated to magnificent leopard, wild dog, and lion sightings while also experiencing some of the purest waters on Earth. Feel your senses awaken while out amongst the reeds on a mokoro ride, peering through the tall grass to try and spot resting lions, or traverse the deeper waters by boat where elephants, crocodiles and hippos can be seen.

Once back on land, a restorative sundowner awaits at the bird’s nest pool where you can expect vistas of dozens of red lechwe and miraculous numbers of birdlife, all in the same day.

Vumbura Plains - Okavango Delta

Be awed by the wildlife you encounter as you scan the floodwaters at Vumbura Plains for a line-up of predators including African wild dogs, leopards and the occasional cheetah. Bigger game is visible from a morning hot-air balloon ride or heli flip over the vast Okavango Delta.

Choose to shift seamlessly between terrains, quietly drifting through the channels in a guided mokoro or choose to stay in camp to watch elephants graze peacefully in the distance. You can also use our Botswana Species Checklist to search for some of Botswana’s 600 bird species, including lilac-breasted roller, carmine bee-eater, secretary bird, and Pel’s fishing-owl.

DumaTau Camp - Linyanti Wildlife Reserve

Deep within the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, you are invited to witness a spectacular show of wildlife across varied landscapes, including grasslands, floodplains and riverine forests. Take a barge out right in front of camp for a marvellous viewing experience. Perhaps a matriarch elephant and her family will be seen wading across the Linyanti River, or as you venture further, crocodiles become visible in the distance, sunning themselves on the banks.

You can also enjoy breathtaking encounters with an abundance of birdlife while out on a guided walking safari a little further out from camp, or simply visit the Osprey Retreat between DumaTau and Little DumaTau to see what wonders you will encounter poolside.

Follow along the ancient migration corridors of Africa’s elephants at this astounding camp, from grassland to rivers, experiencing the best adventures on both water and land in Botswana’s pristine wilderness.
