There is an untamed wilderness in Zambia that is accessible for just a few months every year. Heavy summer rains inundate the Busanga Plains, and during this time, staff remain in camp to safeguard the wildlife until the Plains dry out, and our guests return. This sweeping, seasonally inundated grassland hosts speciality antelope and birds in extraordinary abundance, with a multitude of predators not far behind. Wilderness took a leap of faith more than a decade ago to offer safaris here for just five months of the year, providing life-changing employment to local community members as well as a vital anti-poaching presence.
