Launching in 1991 as Sefofane, initially the company operated just one aircraft based in Botswana, servicing two camps in the Okavango Delta. Today, it has additional bases in Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, operating 29 light aircraft and flying around 70 daily connections. Its highly trained team of passionate, professional pilots has flown the company to the forefront of its niche: air transport to remote ecotourism destinations.

More than just a connection, Wilderness Air flies carefully orchestrated circuits, allowing you, for instance, a morning’s dreamy mokoro ride in the Delta followed by a dramatic afternoon game drive in Zimbabwe’s Hwange or Zambia’s Kafue National Park. By optimising each aircraft’s movements, Wilderness Air reduces your waiting time for connecting flights, as well as its carbon footprint.

Safety is paramount. Since its inception, Wilderness Air has kept abreast of the latest safety standards, continually testing and implementing them. The Cessna Grand Caravan C208B, comprising a large part of the fleet, has an excellent safety record. Airstrips are diligently maintained, and both pilots and guides are trained to deal with any wildlife incursions on the airstrip, making sure that take-offs and landings are safe – for animals and guests alike.
