Africa in Focus – That Magic of the African Sky

As we get closer to the start of this year’s Africa in Focus photo competition, we asked some of our staff to select a few of their favourite images from previous years’ entries.

We are starting with a collection of African skies. From dusk to dawn there is wonder and magic in the great skies over our continent – from the colours of a sunset to the star-dazzled firmament, no one can help but look up and take a photo.

"Be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high. Then life seems almost enchanted after all. "

Here are a few of our favourites…

“Marafa Canyon” by Giuseppe Mascoli

“Summer Storm” by Daniel Crous

“Namib Stars” by Richard de Gouveia

“Rainy Season” by Martin Groth

“Sunrise Lion” by Alex Perez

“African Nights” by Hougard Malan

“Early Morning in the Namib’s Valley of a Thousand Hills” by Jo Bogaerts

“Oryx Storm” by Morkel Erasmus
