There is much to do at Livingstone. From thrilling adventures like bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge to a guided tour of the Victoria Falls or browsing the wonderful curio markets, to gentle Zambezi river safaris, game drives and exploring the museum or meeting local community members.

As the temperatures are generally warm we recommend you pack light clothing, but also a jacket for early morning and evening activities. On safari, neutral colours work best and don’t forget to pack comfortable walking shoes as well as a rain jacket, sunglasses, a hat and binoculars.

Toka Leya offers a choice of international and local cuisine on their menu. The camp’s famous wood-fired pizza oven serves delicious thin-crust pizzas.

Toka Leya Camp is 12 km upstream of the Victoria Falls.

Toka Leya Camp is a 13-tent luxury tented camp on the banks of the Zambezi River, within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. "Toka Leya" means "place of the Toka Leya people" in local Tonga language, acknowledging the communities for whom the Zambezi has been a lifeline for centuries. The camp serves as a great base for Victoria Falls visits, offering the unique combination of a genuine wildlife experience and easy access to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Toka Leya is approximately 7km upstream from Victoria Falls along the Zambezi, with the Falls entrance reachable in around 30 minutes with your stay inclusive of a complimentary visit to the Zambian side of the Falls. The camp sits within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, sharing the protected buffer zone with the falls. A dedicated falls visit is typically arranged as a half-day excursion, leaving afternoons free for Zambezi activities.

Yes, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is home to one of Zambia's few remaining white rhino populations, and guided safaris with armed rangers offer the chance to see rhino in one of their last strongholds. Toka Leya arranges this activity as part of the inclusive camp programme, and it typically involves a short drive to the area where the rhinos are located, where you will alight the vehicle and continue for a short distance on foot to the rhinos where you will be able to take photographs and spend some time with these magnificent creatures. 

Toka Leya offers a comprehensive selection of Zambezi activities included in the rate: sunrise and sunset cruises on the Zambezi, catch-and-release fishing for tiger fish, game drives and walks through Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, birdwatching (the Zambezi floodplain is exceptional for African fish eagle, finfoot, and African skimmer), and cultural visits to local communities. For the adventurous, Victoria Falls activities such as white water rafting, bungee jumping and helicopter flights can be arranged at an additional cost. 

Toka Leya is good year-round, but the experience changes significantly with the Zambezi's water levels. Victoria Falls is most spectacular at full flow (March to May) when the spray can be seen from kilometres away, although the mist can obscure some of the viewpoints at this time of year. The dry season (August to November) reduces the flow but means the falls are easier to view and photograph while white water rafting is possible and the pools above the falls are swimmable. Game viewing in Mosi-oa-Tunya is also better in the dry season as vegetation thins and wildlife concentrates near water. From December to March activities on the Zambezi are still possible but the Zambian side of the Falls is typically dry, so visits to see the waterfalls in flow are done on the Zimbabwean side on a complimentary basis during these months.
