Mornings and evenings can be chilly, so a light jacket for summer and something warmer for winter is essential. Bring a hat and light clothing, and closed shoes for walking.

What wildlife can I expect to see around ?

The Linyanti is home to huge herds of elephant and buffalo, healthy populations of predators including lions, leopards, wild dogs and spotted hyenas, and plenty of antelope. The Linyanti is also an internationally recognised Important Bird Area (IBA), so birding is outstanding at Savuti.

"We cannot begin to express how amazing our experience was at Wilderness Savuti. We came here from Tubu Tree (also reviewed), and honestly were worried that it would not live up to that newly refurbished location. We were wrong. Although the drought hit this area hard as well, we still had an absolutely incredible experience. Once again, we were thrilled to come up close and personal with lions (including cubs), leopards, elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeast, smaller cats (serval and the one that they call a cat, but isn't really), cape fox, warthogs, baboons, hippos, gorgeous birds...I can't list them all. "We stayed 3 nights at Savuti in July as part of our larger African safari holiday. Savuti is a special place. The tent is not even glamping, it’s like a charming log cabin just with canvas sides. Elephants are plentiful and sometimes you find them in camp, especially the naughty “Mr. Savuti” who is a large male elephants who enjoys eating trees by the tents each afternoon. When they say “you are in the bush here” you are really IN THE BUSH. We were paired with Kevin as our guide and we just had so much fun with him! He was calm and funny and along with camp staff, so many little surprises were prepared for us during our stay (I wont spoil surprises here). Each safari drive ended at camp with either a warm or cool towel and a double-handed wave with a welcome home. The staff really makes this place, they are all just so nice and cannot do enough for you. We absolutely loved Savuti as a land-based camp in Botswana and highly recommend it!!!"

Amazing lodge

"It is difficult to know here to start - this was simply amazing. Justin, he may have been learning to guide but his animal spotting was fantastic as was Timmy. Taps and her team all made us so welcomed and the food was fantastic. We did not need to go for the drives as the majority of the animals came to the river outside our room, including a hippo wandering past at 11pm so close we could have touched it. However, on the drives we did see so much and the knowledge Timmy imparted was really interesting. The accommodation, jeeps, etc. were all very well equipped. If you had forgotten anything it was not going to be an issue. We only stayed two nights and wished we had stayed longer."
